Thankful Thursday

Happy Thursday everyone!!  I cannot wait for the weekend...because Im going to a good friend's wedding and I cant wait...and as a matter of fact, thats what Im thankful for today!

Ok ok so they may be getting married at Disney World and that may be a great reason to visit but more than that I am so thankful to be sharing in their special day.  I have know the bride for a while now and am so happy she is getting her happily ever after.  Her fiance is such a great man and they are so gerat together.

I am always so happy to see friends get married, but its been a while since a friend of mine has gotten married and I was able to go to the wedding.  I love being around all the happiness and joy, seeing the love on the couples faces and just being there to celebrate the new union.  I find it doesnt matter how much the wedding costs, as long as your friends are there, and there is good music, a good time is going to be had!  The good music is a sticking point though, how are you going to dance your booty off if you dont have good music :)

So here's to all those couples getting married this weekend...or anytime...and here to all the couples who are still married and making it through the tough time and the fun times as well!

I hope you all have a great thursday...and here is Oreo :)

Thankful Thursday

You know if I ever write a book its going to have to be in a quiet place with no noise.  We are watching Cougar Town and its very distracting trying to write a post!  Ok so I probably wont be writing a book...ever...but its good to know :)

What have you guys been doing this week?  I havent been getting great sleep this week so my creative juices arent flowing like normal.  What has everyone been working on this week I would love to hear from you!!

Today Im thankful for holiday weekends!  I have changed jobs twice this year so I dont have any vacation time stored up...no time off for me unless its a paid holiday.  So a 3 day weekend is just what the doctor ordered.  I have great plans for this weekend and one is getting a new haircut/color and get my nails done.  As long as it looks good Ill share with you when I get a picture :)  I have another fun plan for Monday but I think Im going to make a post out of it so Ill hold of on sharing that with you until later.  Do you have any fun plans for this Memorial Day weekend?  Hopefully my dad will be barbequing this weekend, I love a good barbeque, especially when its not me who is hosting!  Hmmm what dessert should I make :)  So Im thankful for an extended weekend where I have fun plans that dont involve me cleaning the house in preparation for people coming over (2weeks in a row is too much).

My beautiful Oreo, doing what I wish I was doing all day today...napping.  Such a good dog, at night he comes and sits by me and sleeps on me.  Some people dont like it but its relaxing having my puppy dog sleeping by me :)

Thankful Thursday!

Today is Thursday...one day closer to the weekend...one day closer to Mother's Day!  Im not a Mom myself, but I have a mom...and that is going to be the "thankful" theme today.

Not that you need an excuse to be thankful for your mom, but since Mother's Day is coming up I figured today would be a great day for a Mom's post!

That's my mom when she was visiting me in Vegas.  So this pic is a few years old but whatever!  One of the many things Im thankful for and this picture was actually one of those times.  I had moved out to Vegas and my fiance (at the time, now husband) wasnt able to come out for my birthday (he hadnt moved yet) and I was totally bummed, so my mom came out to hang with me it was great.

Moms are great, my mom especially because she does so much for me.  All my cooking/hosting techniques I got from her.  She taught me to be crafty, hard working and independant.  Some of the best qualities I have learned from her and thats a lot to be thankful for.

When I was growing up my mom was a stay at home mom, and I have great respect for mom's who make that decision.  I will always love the fact that my mom was home making sure us kids were taken care of.  I also am thankful that my mom was so supportive of my independence, never wanting me to settle or be dependent on someone.  I think too many girls these days feel like they have to have a man to be happy and that makes me sad.  You can be whoever you want to be if you believe in yourself and you dont need a man, or anyone else for that matter, to make something of yourself.

As I get older, its true, I do realize how much she did for the family and the respect for my mom just grows and weaves its way into my life as well.  I cant wait to have my mom over for Mother's day because its our chance to host for her and of course I know my mom is going to appreciate what I make so who KNOWS what Im going to cook up!!

And a Thursday is not a Thursday without a picture of Oreo.  This dog loves being in the car, and for those of you who dont believe me here is more proof!  Sleeping in the floorboard of the car while we, presumably, are working on a project.  Such a good dog :)

What are you thankful for today?

Thankful Thursday

Hi!  How's your week going?  Mine's going ok...not fast enough though I always cant wait for the weekend!  What are you thankful for this week?  Me...Im thankful for sleep!  Thats right I said sleep and let me tell you why...

Sometimes you dont realize how much you need something until it goes away.  Remember I got a new job last week and new jobs make me lose sleep.  I havent have a good sleep in 3 weeks and its starting to take its tole on my attitude towards my husbadn...because lets be honest its so much easier to be mean to the ones we love and thats a horribly sad truth of life.

Its not like my sleep isnt long enough, its that its not the restful/peaceful kind that when you wake up and you feel refreshed.  Mine is the kind full of real life dreams and my mind waking me up thinking I need to go do something...and that makes me feel like I never went to sleep in the first place.  I have to be thankful for sleep so that maybe it will come back to me and make me nice and happy again!

Back to the husband thing...he isnt even home yet and Im annoyed.  I seem to think that he asks 1million questions when Im irritable but really its just the same amount I just dont have the patience to listen to them all.  Pathetic right?!  It wouldnt be the case if I had sleep!!!  Sleep come back to me, I promise I wont take you for granted any more!  I love you I miss you!!  And my husband would really like you to come back so I can be back to my normal crazy self :)

The only person not affected by my lack of sleep if Oreo, he always gets the same love because how could you not love those puppy dog eyes.

And he is a great supervisor of projects...the one you see here is coming to you next week, its going to be epic!

Thankful Thursday

Its that time of week again...a time to reflect and be thankful and you know what Im thankful for this week...YOU!  Thats right YOU!  Im thankful for everyone who has been with me from the beginning, those of you who just found me today and of course everyone in between.  You guys keep me wanting to be creative instead of just sitting on my butt doing nothing.  Sometimes its hard to get motivated and knowing people like what I create totally makes my day.

Thanks everyone for stopping by, leaving comments and following me it totally makes my day everyday when I log on and see how many people have stopped in.  I wanted to tell all of you that Im thankful for you and am so happy we are getting to know each other through the wonderful blog world.

If you have a project you would love to see me create let me know I would love to have some new ideas since Pinterest has been letting me down lately.  And what would Thursday be without a picture of Oreo!

Such a happy puppy, wish he didnt love sitting in dirt though :)

Thankful Thursday

Today is Thursday and you know what that means...another day to reflect on what I am thankful for.  I dont think I have shared this yet but I got a new job...again.  Back in February I switched to a job downtown and never really felt like it was my home.  Back at my old job in the Woodlands that job felt like home until my wings got too big for the property then it was with sadness that I had to move on.  But here it never felt like I would spend too much time here and as it turns out I was right.  Only 2 months after making the switch Im going back to the Woodlands but this time with a different hotel in a different position.

(Good husbands do stupid things if their wife asks them too haha)

What Im thankful for this week is opportunities.  I learned very recently that you should never shut a door to a career path because you never know what will come of it.  I love Revenue Management but it seems Im being called to a different field (accounting).  If I had kept that door shut I never would have moved Downtown and subsequently gotten the offer that I have now, which is a great opportunity for growth, development and promotion (honestly this is a great chance for me to stretch my wings and really start the career path).  Im thankful for my husband who supports me in every decision I make and always wants whats best for me and a Dad that is in the industry and can give me some really great insights (and the fact that I listen to them rather than brush them off)

(Dad took me and Joe to Gourmet Night, a great place to network)

Some great opportunities have come my way over my lifetime but I think right now I am most thankful for being able to have a job 15 minutes away from home and that allows me to work out in the mornings (best time to work out in my opinion).  I never would have thought I would be job hopping so much but when something great comes along you have to be crazy to pass it up!

What are you thankful for this week...oh and because everyone loves Oreo...My neighbor Evan took this when we stopped by his house during one of our walks...one of the best pics of my puppy I think :)

Thankful Thursday

Happy Thursday everyone!  Some of you may have Good Friday off and if you do...lucky ducks!  I will be here working but I am stewing on a great recipe for tomorrow.  Any suggestions on what kind of recipe you would like to see?

 (source)

Today, in honor of the holiday we are about to celebrate, I want to say I am thankful for Jesus.  To be honest I really dont like when blogs drone on and on about religion.  That may offend some and Im sorry but the blogs I follow, I do so because they are creative in all ways but when all the posts become all about your religion and nothing to do with why I loved your blog in the first place I lose interest.  Well I dont want to lose your interest but I do feel it needs to be said that I am thankful for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  I have had some great opportunities come my way this year and I 100% believe that its because I am being more faithful in my walk and my giving to the Lord.

It seems to me the Easter has become more about candy and easter egg hunts than what the holiday is actually about.  The other day I was wondering why we even have the egg as a symbol for Easter.  For Christmas I know what the majority of the traditions are about (mainly because its my favorite holiday) but for Easter I was clueless, I couldnt see the connection...until I went to the History channel's website.  Apparently the egg used to be considered a meat and was forbidden as part of Lent.  As Lent comes to a close with Easter Sunday, thousands of years ago, people would decorate the eggs to celebrate the ability to eat them again.  Eggs also represent new life as an egg (when fertilized of course) brings a chick into the world.  Which can of course be tied to Easter Sunday as Jesus rose from the grave, with new life.  I get the connection and can get on board with that, so future possible children of mine, dont worry your Easter eggs are safe :)  If you want to read more about Easter traditions, here is the link to the History channel.  Im sure there are other places to find out about Easter, but the History channel's site seems more legit over Wikipedia.  Also, the Easter Bunny came along because they are pretty fertile and also bring new life, and hello they are adorable!

 (source)

Aside from traditions that were made to fit a holiday that can stand alone as amazing, remember the reason for the season (as so many people say for Christmas) and that is Easter is about a time we celebrate Chris rising from the dead and bringing new life and hope to the masses.  There is nothing I could be more thankful for than knowing that I get to spend eternity in heaven (which by the way still terrifies me, even though its a happy thing).  I want to wish you all a Happy Easter, I hope you get to spend some quality time with your loved ones and remember why we actually celebrate Easter and not as just another day to buy cards and candy.

As always, I leave you with my pretty puppy Oreo.  Im trying to get him to pose for the camera but I think thats going to take some more work...at least I can get him to look at the camera and hold still for 10 seconds!

Thankful Thursday

Good Mornin' Good Mornin' Its great to stay out late!  Good Mornin' Good Mornin' to you!  I watched Singin' in the Rain for the first time last week and that song popped into my head, what a catchy song!  I never realized it was from that movie until now...yes I know Im a little behind in movies but thanks to Netflix I am cathing up on the classics...but thats not what I am thankful for today.

Today I am thankful for patience.  I have always struggled with that word but recently I think its becoming a MVP in me.  Patience in all forms, with people, with life, with work, with money, you know with everything really.  Im sure Im like the rest of the world wanting to see results now but a lot of times that just doesnt happen.  Thats also one of the reasons I dont have as many projects flowing in right now.  Financially patient we have decided that we need to follow the calling and tithe and save like we should be...before now we have been so focused on projects we forgot what was really important and I am a firm believer that when you follow God's instructions for you life he rewards you.  In order to follow God's call on my heart that does mean scalling back on all the projects I have in my head, and believe me there are a fair few!  So for now baby steps and further lessons in patience so we blow all of our money on things, because life really is not about things but the people you are with and the experiences you gain.

While having patience is not the easiest thing to do I believe that it can pay off in your life in so many ways and just give more peace in your life.  I haved learned this lesson so many times you would think I would be a pro by now but I still trip and fall flat on my face all...the...time.  Its ok though it keeps me in check.  So I want to say thank you patience for keeping me in line and giving me peace of mind when I feel like Im going crazy.

And because posts are boring without pictures...Oreo!!  Waiting patiently to go outside, such a smart boy.

What are you thankful for today?

Thankful Thursday

Well, well, well we meet again Thursday.  I thought I said goodbye to you last week but apparently you cant take the hint and came back again!  Any-who enough of that...how many of you are watching American Idol?!?  I am and I actually have to say that this top 24 is actually pretty good.  Last year I got 90% of the eliminations right because lets be honest they sucked but this year...this year the talent is pretty interesting and exciting yay!  I love singing competition shows, and I think the Voice may be the new best (only because I hate Ryan Seacrest but lets be honest Carson Daily isnt much better).

Although I love singing competition shows thats not what Im thankful this Thursday...what Im thankful for is my iPod.  I am running more now and honestly my iPod is what keeps me going.  Sometimes what I need to kick my butt in gear and keep going another mile is a good power song.  I have the Nike+ for my iPod that tracks my running and you can program it to play a special song when you need a boost and I love that.  We all have our go to song for when we need that push (mine is "Dont Stop Belivin" the Glee version) and I love that.  I also listen to my iPod in the car because I hate FM radio with all the commercials and I listen to it at work for background music.

So today I say thank you iPod for sticking with me and providing the soundtrack to my life :)  What do you guys have that gets you through the day?  I also have my pretty puppy to get me through because honestly how does a cute dog NOT make you happy!

Thankful Thursday

Its Thankful Thursday and I have something big to be thankful for...today is my last day at my old job and I am thankful for this because it means its time to turn to a new chapter in my life with a new company and a new job.  Its time for reflection on what I have learned here (the good and the bad) and what I can take to my new job.  Im sure you all have started new careers in your lifetime and you can understand its not easy, but sometimes the things that are the hardest are the best for you.  I know this was a hard decision to make, leaving my current hotel home but I am thankful that I did so that I can move onward and upward.

This is a thankful post but also an in memorandum of the hotel I am leaving behind.  Its pretty right :)

If you are ever in the Woodlands stop by Hyatt at Market Street and have a drink in the bar and remember what you are thankful for.  I wish you all a happy thursday and while I enjoy my last day I hope you just enjoy your day and remember what you are thankful for, it will help you get through the day.

Yay for new beginnings!!  Happy Thursday and I hope you are ready for Foodie Friday I am searching for the perfect recipe for tomorrow!!

Oh and will SOMEONE PLEASE tell me what is the obsession with Nutella?!  Everywhere I look on Pinterest and the blog-osphere there are a million and one nutella recipes...YUCK if you ask me but someone needs to explain this to me!

And because a Thursday is not a Thursday here is a pic of my pretty puppy that my brother took last year while we were camping, great shot of him right!

Thankful Thursday

Another week is almost gone but this week it sure hasnt been sunny but dreary and rainy and gross.  I got rained out on my run on Tuesday and it was too hot and muggy for my puppy to finish the run today but Im happy about the rain since this past summer we had such an awaful drought it killed pretty much everything.  So on this Thursday I am thankful for the rain, the light steady stream that we have had all week.  I think thats the best kind of rain because it gives the plants plenty of time to soak up the water and keep soaking it up.  I know my poor pitiful pecan tree needs all the help it can get.  Fingers crossed it springs back this spring.  I really want to go enjoy my beautiful backyard.  Post to come on how we turned out plain jane backyard into this prettyness :)

I hope everyone is enjoying the rain, the only thing I would like to change is to be able to be at home on this rainy day watching a movie enjoying the laziness that comes with the rain.  You know what Im talking about...the instant you see the gloom that comes from a rain cloud you are ready to go back to bed and stay there.

My Oreo loves the rain, he ran in it and didnt think twice.  He has a crazy tounge, but I crack up at him about it so I had to share his silly picture with you...because what is Thankful Thursday without a picture of Oreo!  He is also the first dog I've had that isnt scared of thunder...the vacumn cleaner sure he runs and hides, but thunder he just sleeps right on through it.  A nice change from the Sheltie I had that would sit on my head, pace back and forth and be all around miserable through the whole storm.

What are you thankful for today?  Is it something as simple as you are here another day or are you thankful for something bigger?

Thankful Thursday

Another week has gone by and I find myself writing another Thankful Thursday post.  Today is another silly thing to be thankful for but come November it wont be so silly then!  When I have the most awesome amazing house on the block!!!  What am I talking about you ask?!  Well Christmas Lights of course!!

So what I am actually thankful for is Christmas clearance sales because I got all of the above Christmas lights, plus 5 more boxes of lights, 2 rolls of white rope light, 15 boxes of christmas ornaments and 5 boxes of white christmas tree path lights all at 50-70% off!  I love how much money I save on Christmas lights bevcause I dont know if you can tell or not but I am only buying LED lights which most of you probably know is the most expensive way to go.  But on the flip side I save about $30 (so far) in electricity over the regular blubs.  I bet I actually save more because I had a lot more lights up this year than I did last year so $30 is a low number but makes me happy because I can have a lot of lights up without having a huge electrical bill.

These arent the best pictures but you can see the lights we had up this past year.  After I took this picture I added lights around the base of the two trees and lights around a shrub you cant see right now because its dark.

We are getting rid of those ugly icicle lights, I dont know why I just hate them and they look stupid in those trees anyways.

So thats what Im thankful for this Thursday.  A little bit of silliness but hey we all know by now that I have a deep seated love of Christmas and Christmas lights and they make me happy (although seeing them in January does not make me happy, neighbors I talking to you who still have your darn icicle lights still up).

What makes you happy or thankful on this Thursday?  Im sure its something a little more interesting than Christmas lights but they were just on my mind today I cant help it! :)

Thankful Thursday

Guess what today is...its Thankful Thursday!  Another week has gone by (very slowly might I add), which means I have been on earth another week, trying to figure out this thing called life.  Ok enough with the crazy deep because today Im thankful for technology.  I remember when I was a kid we didnt have a computer, we didnt have cell phones, and the only video game system we had was a original nintendo (which my brother later upgraded to the N64, but I didnt play it).

I remember the days when if I wanted to play with my friends I had to either call them on their home phone or I had to ride my bike down to their house to see if they were home.  Today...if I want to talk to someone I text them, email them or call their cell (who has a home phone anymore).  If I want to learn how to make something I get online and do a search, if I need directions I put the address in my phone and get directions step by step.  Its crazy to think back on road trips of old where you had to pull out the map and plot your route before you left the house.

I remember that if your car broke down in the middle of nowhere you were up a creek without a paddle because you didnt have a phone to call anyone.  I remember the video camera that were so big you had to hold them on your shoulder because if you had to carry that dang thing around you would fall over.  I remember when TV's had remote controlls and that was so awesome we didnt know what to do.  I remember having to wait and wait and wait for the VCR to remind the movie, and then when we got the automatic rewinder and it was like the best thing in the world.
So thank you technology for making our lives easier with your GPS, the Blu-ray that makes watching movies amazing, HDTV's that are so big they take up a whole wall.  Cameras that zoom so far I can see into the backyard of people 2 miles away.  Cell phones that keep me in touch with people all over the country, the internet where I can search for travel deals, and just any kind of deal really.

I know that technology is great but I also think it is crippling a nation that is becoming far too dependant to technology to do things for us.  It makes me sad to think of a day when we can no longer do simple math in our head because, there's an app for that.  I work at a company that would be crippled if there were no longer operating systems.  So while I am very thankful for the convienences of technology, I think it is wise to never forget where we came from so that if we ever lose the capabilities of our modern day tech gadgets, we will be able not only survive but still thrive without it.

And just because I love my puppy and think its funny how much he loves the car, here he is in the hatchback of my husbands car happy as a clam.

Ok enough with the heavy for today, but in all seriousness I am very thankful for technology because without it I would not be sitting here writing this post that you all could read.  I hope you all have a great Thursday!

Thankful Thursday

It's Thursday, and you know what that means...ITS ALMOST FRIDAY!!!  Ok and its also Thankful Thursday.  Today, and yes this is marterialistic but its what Im thankfuk for, Im thankful for Amazon.com.  I know some of you will totally agree with me that this is the best website EVER.  I mean you can make a wish list, and things to your wish list from other websites.  Amazon recommends things for you (and since I've been shopping with them for over 5 years you can imagine they know me pretty well), they have the amazing Kindle which I love love love, and they have the awesome amazon prime membership.  If you dont have a prime membership you are totally missing out!  I borrowed the Hunger Games series for free since I am prime.  Almost all my Christmas presents were free 2 day shipping and I can rent movies and tv shows some for free.  Its pretty much the best thing ever.  Of course its not free but with the free shipping and borrowing books it pretty much pays for itself in my opinion.  In case you were wondering, no amazon did not pay me to say such nice things about it, but I mean when Im sick of stalking pinterest thats where I go to see what amazon thinks I will like today.   Sometimes they are dead wrong (I mean seriously, the Matrix, that was so 10 years ago) but sometimes I find some great gems, like "She and Him" or some great cook bookes or some great books.  Honestly thats where I find all my new authors is the recomendations from Amazon.com.  Ok enough praise on amazon, but thats what Im thankful for today.  I know its not as deep and meaningful as I probably should be but hey Im being honest I love amazon.com!

Since no Thursday is complete without a picture of my baby Oreo here are two.  This is his couch (the one we never use and Im about to sell) he sleeps on it when I go upstairs to do my workout.  He was also sleeping there when we did the Gallery Wall, you remember that post, you can see it here .

Such a good dog, how could you not love that face!

What are you thankful this Thursday?  I would love to hear from you, or just tell me how much you love amazon too, because honestly who doesnt!

Thankful Thursday

Well its that time again...Thankful Thursday!!  Today is a good day and Im definately feeling thankful for many things, but today is going to be ambition.  Im thankful for having ambition.  Ambition to not setteling for anything less than amazing, to have ambition to start new things, and ambition to go outside my comfort zone.  In 2011 my husband and I ran a full 1/2 marathon and also ran a 1/2 marathon relay.

This one is from the relay, it was a night race that ended in Epcot's Food and Wine Festival...great race and great food, I highly recommend it if you are going to attempt a race.

With our medals above and with Megara below...how many of you have met this sassy lady!  This was our full 1/2 marathon, the Princess Marathon weekend.  This race was much harder because it was during the day and the sun was beating down on us, but the entertainment was much better!
So HORRAY for ambition, for reaching goals and setting new ones.  What are you thankful for on this beautiful Thursday?

Thankful Thursday

Today is Thankful Thursday!  This Thursday I am thankful for Shape's line of workout videos.
This is one of the videos I use and I love it!  Great arms, legs and abs.  Here is the link so you can get an awesome body too!  I use this one and the abs video and they are a great workout in the morning.  In a few weeks Im going to start training for my 2 half marathons in 2013 but until then this keeps me in a good routine.  I know its kind of a silly thing to be thankful for but I know some women, me included, have a hard time finding workouts that work for them.  This one works for me and hopefully it will work for you to.

Have any great workout, or videos you use and love?  Share them, I would love to hear what keeps you fit and motivated!

Thankful Thursday

Today is Thankful Thursday and Im glad of it because I need to be reminded what I am thankful for today.  It has been a long week back from vacation, because lets be honest no one would come back from vacation if they didnt need the money!  Which leads me to what I am thankful for today.  I am thankful for great friends who keep you going through the week.  Sometimes you need a boost of happy and good friends are more than happy to give that to you, or a boost of reality if you need that too :)  So along with being thankful for good friends, Im going to give a shout out to Lauren with Ellanesque, and awesome Wedding Planner who does really classy, fun weddings.  If you are looking to get married and want some help (be honest you know you need help) then check her out here.  I leave you with another picture from our Disney Vacation...this time one to feed my Harry Potter obsession.
Of couse you cannot compare this castle to Cinderella's castle they are vastly different styles and represent vastly different things, but I love this castle too, and the ride is SPECTACULAR!

Now I want to hear from you, what are you thankful on this Thursday morning?

Thankful Thursday

Well its Thursday and you know what that means...its THANKFUL THURSDAY!  Today I am thankful for Michaels store.  Yes I know this is a silly thing to be thankful for, but they always seem to have what I am looking for.  For my crayon art they had a 64 pack for crayons for $1!!  What a bargin, and they always have 40% off coupons.  I love that store, I just wish Michaels and Hobby Lobby would have a baby and then that store would be the most amazing store in the world!!  If you dont know what Michaels is or you dont have one if your area I am truly sorry to hear that.  You  need to start your own franchise of Michaels and you will be a millionaire, you know how much we ladies love to craft, you would never go out of business...no seriously when have you ever seen a Michaels shut down...NEVER thats when!  Here is a link to Michaels so you can check it out in case you dont know what it is.  http://www.michaels.com/  Now get out there a shop till you drop and come up with some fantastic crafting ideas!!  Until then here is a little inspiration for you.

I wish I had an awesome craft room like this, sadly I dont but we can always dream!  Happy crafting!!

Thankful Thursday

I know this post is a day late but seeings as I was cooking up a storm yesterday I didnt have time.  So today is a 2 post day.  Starting with my thankfulness.  Today I am thankful for my amazing family, through thick and thin I can always count on them no matter what and I dont think everyone can say that about their families so I count myself lucky that I can say that.  I also am thankful that they let me experiment on them with new foods.  Yesterday I attempted my first cheesecake and pecan pie.  I think they turned out ok, but they said it was awesome.  I think my assessment was a little more accurate but I like the compliments so Ill say it was awesome.  I am going to post the recipe for the cheesecake, you can make it and be the judge of weather its good or not!  Here is a picture of the pecan pie to make you hungry.

Thankful Thursday

In honor of the week before Thanksgiving I though I would make today about being thankful.
http://www.younghouselove.com/2011/11/thanksgiving-traditions-one-old-one-new/ I saw this on one of the blogs I follow and thought it was such a cute idea.  Its too late in the month to start this, but I think it will be a nice family thing for next year.  I have experience with etching cream in the past, be warned that the bottle says 5 minutes...it really means 15 if you want that really crisp frosted look.  Also, when the bottle says a thick layer...it means a THICK layer.  I used 1/2 of a small bottle on one large letter for my candle centerpieces (more to come on that later).  That doesnt really leave you much room for error so if you have a bigger project I would get the bigger bottle.

Moving on to the thankful piece :)

This year has been a great year for the Saldana house.  We ran a full 1/2 marathon and did a relay 1/2 marathon as well.  We have been able to do all kinds of projects on the house, spend time with each other and the biggest success (in my opinion) was that we payed off Joe's car, so NO MORE CAR PAYMENTS for either of us!  I know at times we get stuck on the negative, because honestly its easy to get stuck there.  November is a month of being thanksful, but really every day we should be thankful that we are even here another day.  This mindset has been especially hard for me since there have been some not so good changes going on professionally and that makes it hard to stay thankful, but I have to remind myself that I do have a job and not everyone is as fortunate.  Some of the little things in life we take for granted, like having a/c in the summer (hello Im from Texas, I would literally die if we didnt have that) or heat in the winter.  I also have a loving husband, who supports me even though he somtimes wants to choke me for getting his help on things (all out of love lol).  We have a dog that loves to get love from us and a family that supports and loves us.

So on this Thankful Thursday I think I want to start a new blog tradition (a since Im just starting out why not!) of putting at least one thing I am thankful for each week, and please leave a comment on what you are thankful for!  Or, if this week was a little harder and you need someone in your corner, let me know that too and I will say a prayer for you because I am a firm believer in the power of prayer.

I want to leave today with a picture of who I am most thankful for today.  So it was windy that day and my hair is going crazy, but I am thankful for my husband who puts up with all my crazy antics.  He may lose his patience with me, but not nearly as much as I lose mine.
